Prisformularer, or pricing formulas, are mathematical expressions used to calculate the final price of a product or service. They translate pricing strategy into codified rules that can be applied automatically in invoicing, quoting, and sales systems. Pricing formulas take into account factors such as base price, costs, margins, discounts, taxes, surcharges, currency, and customer or market conditions. They enable consistent pricing across channels and support dynamic adjustments without redesigning price lists.

Pricing formulas can be categorized by how they determine price. Fixed-price formulas apply the same calculation to every unit. Volume or tiered pricing uses quantity thresholds to adjust unit price. Bundle or package pricing combines several items into a single price. Time-based pricing varies with time or usage, common in subscriptions or peak pricing. Geographic or customer-segment pricing adjusts for location or group.

A typical formula might combine base price, markups, discounts, and tax. For example: Price = BasePrice × (1 + Markup) × (1 - Discount) × (1 + TaxRate). Another common pattern is Price = (UnitPrice × Quantity) with a VolumeDiscount function, where UnitPrice = BaseUnitPrice × (1 - VolumeDiscount(Quantity)). Formulas are often implemented in pricing engines or ERP systems and require careful versioning, testing, and auditing to ensure transparency and compliance.
