Primaarisissas
Primaarisissas is a genus of extinct marine reptiles that lived during the Middle Jurassic period, approximately 165 million years ago. Fossil remains have been found in sedimentary rock formations of the western United States and eastern Asia, indicating a widespread distribution across the Tethys Sea. The animals belong to the order Sauropterygia, within the superfamily Plesiosauridae, and are thought to be closely related to the well‑known plesiosaur Plesiosaurus.
The name Primaarisissas, derived from the Greek roots “prīmol” (first) and “arisis” (aid), was coined by paleontologist
Morphologically, Primaarisissas had a relatively small skull compared to its body, with a long snout and numerous
