The term is used in Czech to describe both science communication and broader public outreach.

Etymology and history: The word derives from the Czech verb popularizovat and the noun popularizace, related to making information widely known. Modern popularizace developed with the rise of mass media, public lectures, museums, and publishing, expanding in the 20th century with public broadcasting and digital platforms. In the Czech Republic, universities, museums, science centers, publishers, and media organizations have played central roles in promoting popularizace.

Methods and channels: Common methods include public lectures, popular science books and magazines, documentaries, museum exhibitions, science festivals, outreach programs to schools, and digital media such as podcasts, blogs, and video channels. Effective popularizace often combines accuracy with engaging presentation and accessible language, while preserving core concepts and uncertainty where it exists.
