PolyamidHotMel

PolyamidHotMel is a family of thermoplastic polyamide-based hot-melt adhesives designed for high-temperature resistance and versatile bonding. It is solid at room temperature and melts in standard hot-melt equipment, forming a strong bond upon cooling.

The formulation typically combines aliphatic polyamide resin with tackifiers, waxes, and plasticizers. Some grades include elastomeric or reinforcing modifiers to adjust elasticity, impact resistance, or peel strength. Variants differ in molecular weight and formulation to balance open time, bond strength, and service temperature.

PolyamidHotMel provides strong adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics, and many plastics, with notable heat resistance and high shear strength. It generally offers good chemical and aging resistance, though nylons’ inherent moisture uptake can affect bond strength and dimensional stability in humid environments.

Processing and applications: It is applied using conventional hot-melt equipment, allowing rapid cycle times suitable for continuous production and assembly lines. Common applications include automotive interior components, electronics potting and sealing, packaging, woodworking, textiles bonding, and other assemblies requiring robust performance at elevated temperatures.

Limitations and safety: The hygroscopic nature of polyamides means performance can be moisture-sensitive, and adequate surface preparation is important for reliable bonding. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can degrade some grades. Handling requires good ventilation and compliance with applicable safety and disposal regulations.
