Polttokammioon

Polttokammioon is the Finnish illative form of polttokammio, meaning combustion chamber or incineration chamber. The term denotes a confined space where controlled combustion of fuel or waste takes place, producing heat, gases and often ash. Combustion chambers are central components in a variety of systems, including power plants, industrial furnaces, waste incinerators, internal combustion engines, rocket engines and crematoria.

Design and operation focus on achieving complete combustion, appropriate temperature and sufficient residence time for reactants. Key features include fuel and air injection systems, refractory linings or cooling jackets to withstand high temperatures, and flow-control elements to promote turbulence and mixing.
