Poliitikuna

Poliitikuna is a Basque-language noun used to denote a person who engages in politics, commonly translated into English as “the politician” or “a politician.” The form is built from the Basque concept of politics with a suffix that yields an agent noun, signaling someone associated with that field. As with many Basque terms, regional dialects and contexts influence its exact usage and pronunciation.

In modern Basque, other terms are also used to refer to a politician, such as politikaria or politikari, each carrying slight nuances or formal/colloquial connotations. Poliitikuna may appear in historical texts or in certain dialects, and its acceptability can vary by community and era. In everyday speech, speakers might choose alternative forms depending on register and emphasis.
