Polüetüleeniga

Polüetüleeniga, more commonly known as polyethylene, is a widely used thermoplastic polymer. It is produced through the polymerization of ethylene. Polyethylene is characterized by its versatility and a range of properties that make it suitable for numerous applications. Its chemical structure consists of long chains of repeating ethylene units.

There are several types of polyethylene, with the most common being High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE). HDPE is known for its strength, rigidity, and chemical resistance, making it ideal for items like milk jugs, detergent bottles, and pipes. LDPE, on the other hand, is more flexible and translucent, often used in plastic bags, films, and squeeze bottles. Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) offers a combination of flexibility and puncture resistance, frequently found in stretch wrap and heavy-duty bags.

Polyethylene is a cost-effective material and is generally considered safe for food contact when produced according to regulatory standards. Its non-reactive nature contributes to its widespread use in packaging, agriculture, and consumer goods. While polyethylene is recyclable, its environmental impact, particularly regarding persistent plastic waste, is a significant concern, leading to ongoing research and development in biodegradable alternatives and improved recycling processes.
