Plastifizierers denotes devices or systems used in polymer processing to plastify materials by incorporating plasticizers or through temperature-induced plasticization. The term is used in industrial contexts for equipment in extruders, compounding lines, and related processing steps that control the amount and distribution of plasticizer in the polymer melt. In some contexts, it may also refer to personnel responsible for managing plastification, though this usage is less common.

Plasticizers are low‑molecular‑weight compounds added to polymers to reduce intermolecular forces, increase free volume, and lower the glass transition temperature, producing a more flexible material. Plastifizierers provide dosing, mixing, and sometimes agitation to ensure homogeneous dispersion of the plasticizer under controlled temperature and shear. The effectiveness depends on plasticizer type, polymer compatibility, and processing parameters.

Industry uses include polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for flexible films, cables, and profiles, where phthalate and non‑phthalate esters are common plasticizers. Plastifizierers are also employed with other plastics such as cellulose derivatives, polyurethanes, and certain biopolymers, especially in film or sheet production and molded parts.

Configurations range from metering pumps and dosing screws integrated into extruders to dedicated plasticizer blending and dispersion units. Some advanced systems use reactive or compatibilized blends to tailor mechanical and thermal properties.

Environmental and regulatory considerations include plasticizer migration, odor, and health effects. The industry is moving toward safer, lower‑volatility, and non‑phthalate alternatives in many applications.
