Pisistratus
Pisistratus was an Athenian nobleman who seized power and ruled Athens as a tyrant from 561 to 527 BCE, with brief interruptions. He came from a prominent family and was a kinsman of the legendary Solon, the Athenian lawmaker. Pisistratus first gained influence by leading the Parians against the Megarians in a conflict over the control of Sigeum.
