Piirilevyin

Piirilevyin is a Finnish term that translates to "printed circuit board" in English. A printed circuit board, commonly abbreviated as PCB, is a fundamental component in nearly all electronic devices. It serves as a platform for mounting and interconnecting electronic components. Instead of using wires for connections, PCBs feature conductive pathways, typically made of copper, etched onto a non-conductive substrate material.

The creation of a PCB involves a manufacturing process that starts with a design. This design specifies the layout of the conductive traces, component placement, and other necessary features. The design is then transferred to a physical board through various methods, including photolithography. During manufacturing, unwanted copper is chemically removed from a copper-clad laminate, leaving behind the desired circuit pattern. Holes are drilled for component leads or vias, which are connections between different layers of the board. Finally, components are soldered onto the board, establishing the electrical connections required for the device to function. PCBs can range from simple single-layer boards to complex multi-layer boards with intricate designs.
