Pigmentarvusse

Pigmentarvusse, also known as pigmented moles or pigmented skin lesions, are localized areas of increased melanin production in the skin. They can vary widely in appearance, size, shape, and color, ranging from light brown to dark black. These pigmented spots are primarily caused by an accumulation of melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells, which can be distributed evenly or irregularly within the lesion.

Typically, pigmentarvusse are benign and pose no health risks. They often appear during childhood or adolescence and tend to remain stable over time. Common types include birthmarks such as nevus (moles), as well as other pigmented spots like freckles and lentigines. Moles are usually round or oval, with well-defined borders, and can be flat or raised. Their coloration depends on the density and activity of the melanocytes.

While most pigmented lesions are harmless, certain changes in size, shape, color, or texture can indicate malignancy, such as melanoma. Therefore, monitoring pigmentarvusse for signs of irregularity—like asymmetry, border irregularity, multiple colors, diameter larger than 6 millimeters, or evolving features—is recommended.

Diagnosis often involves visual examination, and in some cases, dermatoscopy or biopsy may be performed to rule out skin cancer. The removal of pigmentarvusse may be considered for cosmetic reasons or if there is suspicion of malignancy.
