The primary components of a typical hydraulic braking system include the brake pedal, master cylinder, brake fluid, brake lines, and the braking mechanism at the wheels, which can be either disc brakes or drum brakes. Disc brakes use a rotor attached to the wheel hub and a caliper that squeezes brake pads against the rotor. Drum brakes utilize brake shoes that press against the inside of a rotating drum. Effective braking systems are crucial for safety, ensuring vehicles can be controlled and stopped reliably under various conditions. Regular maintenance and inspection of braking systems are vital to ensure their proper function.
