Phytopathogene
A phytopathogen, sometimes called phytopathogene, is any organism capable of causing disease in plants. This broad group includes fungi, oomycetes, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, and parasitic plants. Some are obligate parasites that require living tissue; others are facultative and can persist in the environment without a host for periods.
Disease development begins with entry into plant tissue, followed by colonization and production of virulence factors
Economic importance: Plant diseases caused by phytopathogens can cause significant yield losses and affect quality. Management
Diagnosis and detection rely on symptom observation and laboratory methods, including isolation and microscopy, as well
Ecology and host interactions: Pathogens interact with plants through complex molecular mechanisms, with plant immune responses
