Petriastian refers to the people, language, and cultural tradition associated with the fictional archipelago of Petrias. The name derives from the archipelago’s ancient toponym and a legendary early founder named Petri who is said in local lore to have organized the first settlements. The term is used as both an ethnonym and an adjective for things related to Petrias.

Geography and population are central to Petriastian identity. The archipelago comprises several latitudinally aligned isles with rugged coastlines, sheltered harbors, and a temperate maritime climate. The core lands are inhabited by a few dozen towns and villages, with a population commonly envisioned in the low hundreds of thousands across the archipelago.
