Petefészekre

Petefészekre, also known as *testis* in Latin, refers to the male reproductive organ responsible for producing sperm and testosterone. Located within the scrotum, these oval-shaped glands are crucial for fertility and the development of male secondary sexual characteristics. The human male typically has two petefészekre, each connected to the epididymis, where sperm matures and is stored before ejaculation.

The petefészekre consists of tightly coiled seminiferous tubules, where spermatogenesis—the process of sperm production—occurs. Supporting cells called Sertoli cells nourish developing sperm, while Leydig cells, located between the tubules, produce testosterone, the primary male sex hormone. Hormonal regulation, particularly by luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland, controls sperm production and testosterone synthesis.

Conditions affecting the petefészekre can impact reproductive health. Varicocele, an enlarged vein within the scrotum, may reduce sperm quality by increasing scrotal temperature. Infections like orchitis (inflammation of the petefészekre) or epididymitis can impair function, while conditions such as cryptorchidism (undescended testicles) may require medical intervention to prevent fertility issues or cancer risk. Tumors, though relatively rare, can also develop in the petefészekre and often require surgical removal and further treatment.

Regular self-examinations for lumps, swelling, or pain are recommended for early detection of abnormalities. Lifestyle factors, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and exposure to toxins, may negatively affect petefészekre health. Maintaining a balanced diet, avoiding harmful substances, and managing chronic health conditions can support optimal function.
