PRT vehicles are usually small, electric, and can accommodate one to four passengers at a time, making them ideal for short to medium-distance travel within cities.

The concept of PRT was first proposed in the 1950s and has since evolved through various iterations, including the Personal Rapid Transit System developed by George E. Kimball in the 1960s. Modern PRT systems often incorporate advanced technologies such as automated guidance, collision avoidance, and real-time scheduling to ensure smooth and safe operation.

PRT systems offer several advantages over traditional public transportation methods. They provide door-to-door service, reducing the need for transfers and minimizing travel time. PRT vehicles can operate on a flexible schedule, responding to demand in real-time, which can help alleviate congestion during peak hours. Additionally, PRT systems can be integrated with other transportation modes, such as buses and trains, to create a seamless multimodal network.

However, PRT systems also face challenges and limitations. The high initial cost of infrastructure and vehicles can be a barrier to implementation. Additionally, the small size of PRT vehicles may limit their capacity to handle large passenger volumes during peak times.
