Perryteritas
Perryteritas is a genus of small, extinct marine reptiles belonging to the clade Sauropterygia, which also includes plesiosaurs. Fossil remains of this genus have been discovered primarily in the Late Jurassic period, dating back approximately 155 to 150 million years ago. The name *Perryteritas* is derived from the Greek words *perryteron*, meaning "around the corner," and *teratos*, meaning "monster," referencing its unusual and somewhat cryptic fossil record.
The most notable species within this genus is *Perryteritas kurzi*, described in 2014 based on fragmentary remains
Perryteritas is significant in paleontology due to its unique combination of features that bridge evolutionary gaps
The fossil record of *Perryteritas* remains limited, and much about its biology, behavior, and ecological role
