Perenjori

Perenjori is a small town and a local government area located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. It is situated approximately 345 kilometers (214 miles) north-east of Perth, the state capital. The town serves as a service center for the surrounding agricultural district, which is primarily involved in sheep farming and grain production.

The name "Perenjori" is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word, possibly from the Yamatji language group, with meanings that are debated but often associated with "place of water" or "rocky ground." The area was first explored by Europeans in the mid-19th century, and settlement began to take hold in the early 20th century with the development of agriculture. The railway arrived in the 1920s, further facilitating the growth of the district.

Perenjori's economy is strongly tied to its agricultural output. The annual rainfall and soil types are conducive to growing wheat, barley, and canola. Sheep farming is also a significant industry in the region. The town offers essential services for its residents and the farming community, including a primary school, a general store, and various agricultural suppliers.
