These classifications include the gynaecoid pelvis, which is typically found in females and is well-suited for childbirth; the android pelvis, which is more common in males and is less accommodating for childbirth; and the anthropoid pelvis, which is found in some primates and is intermediate between the gynaecoid and android types.

In medical contexts, the pelvis region is often examined during physical examinations, imaging studies, and surgical procedures. Conditions affecting the pelvis can include fractures, infections, and tumors, which may require medical intervention.
