Payloadnivåer refers to the different stages or levels within a malicious software's execution, particularly in the context of a multi-stage attack. When a piece of malware infects a system, it often doesn't deploy its full functionality immediately. Instead, it might first download and execute a smaller, initial component, known as the first-stage payload. This initial payload is designed to be stealthy and lightweight, allowing it to bypass initial security checks.

Once established, the first-stage payload then communicates with a command-and-control (C2) server to download and execute subsequent payloads. These second-stage payloads can be more complex and feature-rich, enabling actions such as data exfiltration, privilege escalation, or the deployment of further malicious modules. Each subsequent stage, or payloadnivå, can build upon the capabilities of the previous one, creating a layered and adaptable attack strategy. This modular approach allows attackers to modify their tactics dynamically, making detection and mitigation more challenging.
