Pasturo

Pasturo is a small municipality (comune) situated in the province of Pescara in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. It lies approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Pescara city and is part of the natural landscape of the Sirente-Velino Regional Park, which surrounds the area with rolling hills and forested terrain. The town covers a total area of about 18 square kilometres and has an elevation of roughly 350 metres above sea level.

The population of Pasturo is modest, with the latest census reporting around 2,400 residents. The demographic trend has been relatively stable over the past decade, and the community is predominantly native Italians of Abruzzese origin. Public services include a primary school, a municipal health clinic, and a local sports club that participates in regional football leagues.

Economically, Pasturo's livelihood is mainly based on small‑scale agriculture, including olive cultivation and chestnut production, which are traditional in the region. A growing segment of the local economy involves agritourism, where visitors stay in farmhouses and experience traditional cooking and rural life. The town's history is mirrored in its architecture, with the 12th‑century Church of San Giorgio and the 15th‑century Palazzo dei Conti as prominent historical buildings.

Pasturo is connected by regional roadways to nearby municipalities and has access to the A14 Autostrada via the Pescara interchange, facilitating travel within the Adriatic coast and inland Abruzzo. The nearest railway station is in Pescara, which offers connections to Rome and other major Italian cities.
