Passformstest

Passformstest is the process of assessing whether a product's form, dimensions, and fit align with its intended use and user anatomy. The term is used in contexts such as fashion and personal protective equipment (PPE), among others, to evaluate how well a product accommodates the body or a specific use case.

In apparel, passformstest involves body measurements, pattern grading, prototype garments, and fit sessions with test wearers to ensure garments fit across sizes and body shapes. It typically uses anthropometric data, garment testing on representative bodies, and feedback to guide adjustments before mass production.

In PPE and safety equipment, fit testing verifies a secure seal or proper fit to protect the user. For respirators, fit tests can be qualitative (judgments based on taste, odor, or irritation) or quantitative (measuring leakage). Such tests are often required by safety standards and regulatory frameworks to ensure adequate protection for diverse users.
