Partialselective is an adjective used to describe a system, mechanism, or agent that exhibits selectivity only to a limited extent. It denotes a gradation between complete discrimination and complete openness, where options or stimuli are given varying degrees of priority rather than an absolute in-or-out status. The term is often employed to signal trade-offs between precision and inclusivity in design and analysis.

In computing and information processing, partialselective filtering applies a subset of ranking or relevance criteria. Results may be selected based on a combination of features rather than a single criterion, producing a balance between recall and precision. This approach can reduce computational load while preserving useful diversity in the output.

In pharmacology and biology, partialselectivity describes ligands or drugs that show affinity for more than one receptor subtype, with a bias toward particular signaling pathways. Such agents can yield a therapeutic effect while minimizing subtype-specific adverse effects, though they may also produce broader pharmacodynamic profiles than highly selective compounds.

In cognitive science and neuroscience, partial selective attention refers to focusing resources on a subset of sensory input under high load, allowing salient information to be processed preferentially while other inputs receive reduced processing.
