Parksensoren

Parksensoren, also known as parking sensors or parking assist systems, are electronic devices designed to help drivers detect obstacles around their vehicle, particularly during parking maneuvers. They typically consist of a set of ultrasonic or electromagnetic sensors mounted on the front and/or rear bumpers of a car. These sensors emit sound waves or electromagnetic fields and measure the time it takes for the waves or fields to return after reflecting off an object. This information is then processed by a control unit.

When an object is detected within a certain range, the system alerts the driver, usually through audible beeps that increase in frequency as the vehicle gets closer to the obstacle, or via a visual display on the dashboard or infotainment screen. Some advanced systems can also indicate the direction of the obstacle. The primary purpose of park sensors is to prevent collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, walls, or curbs, thereby reducing the risk of minor damage and improving parking safety, especially in tight spaces or low visibility conditions. They are a common feature in modern vehicles, often integrated into driver assistance packages.
