Parameterregulering

Parameterregulering refers to methods and practices used to adjust or influence the parameters that define a system, model, or controller in order to achieve or maintain a desired performance. Instead of directly controlling the system state, parameterregulering aims to keep the governing parameters within bounds that yield stable and efficient behavior.

In control engineering, typical targets include tuning gains, time constants, or model coefficients. Parameterregulering can be performed offline, using pre-established rules such as classic tuning methods (e.g., Ziegler–Nichols, Cohen–Coon) based on observed responses, or online through adaptive strategies that update parameters during operation. Online approaches include adaptive control, gain scheduling, and online system identification.

Adaptive control uses estimates of system parameters to modify the controller in real time. Gain scheduling follows a predefined map from operating conditions to controller parameters. Online identification (or online system identification) collects data to update a parametric model, often using recursive estimation methods like recursive least squares or Kalman filtering; the updated model then informs controller adjustments.

Applications span process industries (chemical and petrochemical plants), aerospace, automotive, robotics, and energy systems. Parameterregulering helps maintain product quality, energy efficiency, and safety, particularly when operating conditions change or model uncertainty is high.

Challenges include measurement noise, time delays, nonlinear dynamics, parameter drift, and ensuring stability and robustness when parameters change. Proper validation, safeguards, and fallback strategies are essential.
