Parallelized is an adjective used in computing to describe code, workloads, or systems that have been transformed to execute multiple operations concurrently, typically across multiple processing units such as CPU cores, GPUs, or separate machines. This transformation aims to reduce overall execution time or increase throughput by exploiting parallelism in algorithms or data.

Parallelization can be achieved through several approaches. Data parallelism distributes data across processors performing the same operation on different data elements; task parallelism divides the work into independent tasks that can run concurrently. Common techniques include multi-threading and multiprocessing on shared-memory or distributed-memory systems, vectorization with SIMD units in CPUs, and GPU acceleration with CUDA or OpenCL. Frameworks like OpenMP, MPI, Spark, and MapReduce provide abstractions for parallelized workflows.

Benefits include faster runtimes, better resource utilization, and scalable processing of large datasets. However, parallelization introduces overhead from synchronization, communication, and task scheduling, and may suffer from diminishing returns due to Amdahl's law. Debugging and ensuring correct memory access can be more challenging, and non-deterministic results may arise in some parallel executions.

In practice, parallelized code requires careful design, including consideration of data dependencies, granularity, load balancing, and thread safety. It is a central technique in high-performance computing, data analytics, scientific simulations, and real-time graphics, where performance constraints motivate restructuring serial algorithms into parallelized forms.
