Pandaridae
Pandaridae is a family of bears native to the forests of southern China and northern Myanmar. They are characterized by their distinctive black and white fur, which is unique among bear species. The family includes two species: the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) and the lesser panda (Ailurus fulgens). The giant panda is well-known for its diet of bamboo, which makes up 99% of its diet. In contrast, the lesser panda has a more varied diet, including insects, small mammals, and fruits. Both species are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss and fragmentation. Pandaridae are solitary animals, except during the mating season. They are also known for their playful behavior, often seen climbing trees and playing with their food. Conservation efforts for these species focus on habitat preservation and protection from human-wildlife conflict.
