Palboua is a small town and commune in the fictional country of Veridia, situated in the Veridian Lowlands near the Verdan River. It serves as the administrative center of the Palboua District, with a town population reported around 4,200 as of 2021. The name Palboua is believed to derive from the local Pal language, meaning “bright fields.”

Geography and climate: Palboua sits on flat to gently rolling terrain at about 120 meters above sea level. The area experiences a temperate climate with hot summers and mild winters. Annual rainfall averages around 550 millimeters, with most precipitation occurring in spring and autumn. The surrounding land is primarily used for agriculture, interspersed with small forests and watercourses.

History: Palboua was established in the mid-19th century as a farming settlement. It gained municipal status in 1902 and expanded after the arrival of a regional railroad in 1913. The late 20th century brought modernization of utilities and the development of cultural and public services to accommodate a growing local population.

Economy: The local economy centers on agriculture, including olives, citrus fruits, and cereals, complemented by small-scale manufacturing and processing facilities. Weekly markets support regional trade, and a local cooperative bank serves farmers and small businesses. Tourism exists at a modest level, tied to rural landscapes and heritage sites in the area.
