Pakkseddel

Pakkseddel, in logistics, is a document that accompanies a shipment and details what is contained in the package. It serves as a quick reference for the recipient and as a control aid for the shipper and carrier. The term is widely used in Norwegian trade and is often issued together with the commercial invoice and shipping documents.

It usually lists: sender and recipient, shipment date, order or reference numbers, carrier and tracking number, and the contents of each package. For each item, descriptions, SKUs or product codes, quantities, unit weights, and total weights, and sometimes dimensions. It may also include the type of packaging, the number of packages, pallet information, and any handling marks or special instructions. The document may have billing and customs fields if needed.

The pakkseddel enables recipients to verify that the delivered goods match the order and helps with inventory updates. It also provides a record for the shipper and carrier and can serve as proof of shipment. In international shipping it can assist customs clearance by showing contents and value; it may be used to support returns and warranty processes.

Formats: It can be a physical paper document or a digital record linked to an ERP or WMS system; often scannable via barcode or QR to speed receiving. It is usually distinct from the commercial invoice, though values may be cross-referenced.

Variations: The exact layout and fields vary by country, industry, and carrier; in e-commerce, packing slips are often included inside the package; some shipments also include a return slip.
