PVCC

PVCC, the Piedmont Virginia Community College, is a public two-year college in Albemarle County, near Charlottesville, Virginia. It is part of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and serves the central Virginia region with programs for undergraduate study, workforce training, and continuing education. Established in the 1970s, PVCC offers associate degrees, certificates, and options that support university transfer to four-year institutions as well as career preparation.

Programs include university transfer pathways (AA/AS), applied associate degrees (AAS), and a range of certificates in fields such as health sciences, information technology, business, and public service. The college provides both online and on-campus courses, along with student services such as advising, tutoring, a library, and career services to assist students throughout their education and transition to work or further study.

PVCC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) through the Virginia Community College System. Governance is provided by a local Board of Visitors, with oversight within the statewide VCCS framework.

Campus facilities include classrooms, laboratories, a learning resources center, arts spaces, and community facilities to support instruction, research, and cultural activities. The PVCC Foundation supports scholarships, program development, and other initiatives to enhance student success and access. While primarily serving adults pursuing postsecondary credentials, PVCC also collaborates with regional employers and higher education institutions to align training with local workforce needs.
