PUAAistine

PUAAistine is a small village located in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. It is situated in the Khulna division, specifically within the Morrelganj Upazila of Bagerhat district. The village has a total area of approximately 400 hectares, with a dense population of over 5,000 residents.

Geographically, PUAAistine lies near the confluence of the Sundarbans and the Ganges-Brahmaputra river delta. The area is known for its vast mangrove forests and numerous waterways, making it a unique and fragile ecosystem. The village is connected to the nearby city of Khulna via a single-lane road, which provides essential transportation links.

The economy of PUAAistine primarily depends on fishing, rice cultivation, and forestry. Locals engage in shrimp farming, crab catching, and marine products trading, while the rice fields are mainly used for Khamarguri and Amon rice cultivation. Traditional crafts like basket-weaving, pottery, and reed production are also practiced by community members.

PUAAistine has been identified as a vulnerable area due to its low-lying terrain and high risk of natural disasters such as cyclones and floods. However, the village has seen various rehabilitation and development initiatives in recent years, aiming to improve living conditions and emergency response capacities. A community-based management system has been established to protect and preserve the environment and natural resources in the village.
