PSIM

Psim, often stylized as PSIM, is a proprietary software package used for simulating power electronics, electrical drives, and power systems. It uses a schematic capture environment and a time-domain numerical engine to model nonlinear electrical circuits and control systems.

The software provides a library of components, including diodes, thyristors, MOSFETs, IGBTs, sensors, controllers, and energy storage devices; it supports modeling of DC-DC converters, DC-AC inverters, and AC-AC converters, along with motors and renewable-energy interfaces. It includes tools for design optimization and automated testing, and offers plotting and analysis facilities such as waveform viewing and harmonic studies. PSIM also supports co-simulation with external tools and model libraries, enabling integration with SPICE-based models and, in many workflows, MATLAB/Simulink.

PSIM is used in academia and industry for education, research, and product development, including applications in power-supply design, motor drives, power conversion, and grid-tied systems. It runs on Windows and provides an interactive environment with prebuilt templates and example circuits to support rapid prototyping and experimentation.

The product is commercial software, available with academic licenses and trial versions. It is widely adopted for teaching and research due to its specialized focus on power electronics and its ease of use for designing and validating control strategies and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
