PLC-programmeerimiskeeli refers to the programming languages used to develop software for programmable logic controllers (PLCs). These specialized industrial computers are used to automate and control manufacturing processes and other complex systems. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard IEC 61131-3 defines the most common PLC programming languages.

The IEC 61131-3 standard specifies five primary programming languages. These include Ladder Diagram (LD), which visually resembles electrical relay logic diagrams, making it intuitive for electricians and technicians. Function Block Diagram (FBD) uses graphical blocks representing functions connected by lines to show data flow. Structured Text (ST) is a high-level, text-based language similar to Pascal or C, suitable for complex algorithms and data manipulation. Instruction List (IL) is a low-level, assembly-like language for time-critical operations. Finally, Sequential Function Chart (SFC) is a graphical language designed to represent the sequential flow of control, with steps and transitions.

Each language offers different advantages depending on the application and the programmer's expertise. While some languages are more visual and intuitive, others provide greater flexibility and power for complex programming tasks. Modern PLCs often support multiple languages, allowing developers to choose the most appropriate one for a given task or to combine languages within a single project for optimal efficiency and readability.
