PLCpolku

PLCpolku is a learning initiative designed to provide a modular path for understanding programmable logic controllers (PLCs). It functions as an open educational project and platform that combines theoretical instruction with hands-on exercises, allowing learners to progress from basic concepts to more complex control systems. The curriculum covers IEC 61131-3 languages such as ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagrams, along with practical projects.

Origin and scope: The PLCpolku concept emerged in the Finnish technical education scene in the early 2020s as a collaborative effort among vocational schools, industry partners, and open-source communities. It aims to offer an accessible, standardized training route that can be used in classrooms, lab environments, and self-directed study.

Curriculum and structure: The path is modular with beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Core modules address PLC fundamentals, digital and analog I/O, programming environments, troubleshooting, and safety.
