Ostade

Ostade is a Dutch surname best known in art history for two 17th-century painters of the Dutch Golden Age: Adriaen van Ostade and his younger brother Isaak van Ostade. The name van Ostade is commonly used in art literature to identify these artists and their closely related bodies of genre painting.

Adriaen van Ostade (1610–1685) was born in Haarlem and established himself as a prominent genre painter. He is best known for rustic scenes of peasant life, including figures in tavern interiors, courtyards, and village settings.
