Osamaksulla

Osamaksulla is a Finnish adverb meaning "by installments" or "on an installment plan." It is commonly used to describe purchases or services paid for in multiple scheduled payments rather than in a single upfront sum. Typical contexts include consumer goods (electronics, furniture), vehicles, leasing arrangements and online "buy now, pay later" services.

Installment arrangements vary: fixed-term loans with equal payments, hire-purchase agreements where ownership transfers after the final payment, and revolving credit that allows ongoing borrowing up to a limit. Terms commonly specify the number of installments, payment frequency, interest rate or service fees, and consequences for missed payments.

In Finland and the EU, installment and consumer credit products are regulated so lenders and sellers must provide clear pre-contractual information such as the total cost, annual percentage rate (APR), and other charges. Consumers often have cooling-off or withdrawal rights for distance contracts. Providers may perform credit checks and late payments can lead to fees and affect credit records.
