Ortopédusok, also known as orthopedic specialists, are medical doctors who focus on the diagnosis, treatment, surgical and non-surgical management, and rehabilitation of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. This system includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves.

These specialists treat a wide range of conditions, from common ailments like sprains and fractures to complex disorders such as arthritis, scoliosis, and sports-related injuries. Their expertise extends to congenital conditions, developmental issues, and degenerative diseases that affect mobility and function.

The training to become an ortopédus is extensive, typically involving medical school followed by a residency program in orthopedic surgery. Many then pursue further fellowship training in subspecialties like hand surgery, spine surgery, pediatric orthopedics, or sports medicine.

Ortopédusok utilize various diagnostic tools, including X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, and laboratory tests, to identify the underlying cause of a patient's pain or dysfunction. Treatment plans can involve conservative measures such as physical therapy, medication, injections, bracing, and lifestyle modifications.
