Another important category is looping constructs, like for loops and while loops. These enable a set of instructions to be repeated multiple times. A for loop typically executes a block of code a predetermined number of times, often iterating over a sequence of values. A while loop, on the other hand, continues to execute its code block as long as a specified condition remains true.

Other control flow mechanisms include switch statements or case statements, which offer a way to select one of many code paths to execute based on the value of an expression. Break and continue statements are also used within loops to alter their normal execution flow, with break exiting the loop entirely and continue skipping the rest of the current iteration and proceeding to the next.
