Nullmodellként is a term often encountered in statistical analysis and scientific research, particularly in fields like ecology and bioinformatics. It refers to a null model, which is a simplified or hypothetical model used as a baseline for comparison. The purpose of a null model is to represent a scenario where the observed pattern or effect is due to random chance or simple, uninteresting processes, rather than a specific, hypothesized mechanism.

In practice, researchers construct a null model that generates data or predicts an outcome under the assumption of no real effect or relationship. For instance, in ecology, a null model might simulate species distributions assuming they are random. The actual observed species distribution is then compared to the distribution predicted by the null model. If the observed pattern deviates significantly from the null model's prediction, it suggests that non-random factors are likely at play.
