NizariNasrid

NizariNasrid is a composite term occasionally used in modern writing to denote a hypothetical intersection between two distinct medieval Muslim polities: the Nizari Ismaili movement and the Nasrid dynasty that ruled Granada. It is not an established historical designation for a single polity or state.

The Nizari Ismailis, often popularly called the Assassins, originated in the 11th century with fortress networks in the Alamut region and other parts of Persia and Syria. They formed a religious and political movement led by a line of imams tracing to the Fatimid caliphate, and they were known for clandestine networks rather than centralized monarchies. The Nasrid dynasty established the Emirate of Granada in Iberia in the early 13th century and lasted until 1492, representing the final Muslim polities on the Iberian Peninsula and playing a central role in the politics of Al-Andalus during late medieval times.

In scholarship and fiction, NizariNasrid may be used to explore hypothetical contacts between Ismaili intellectual currents or missionary activity and Nasrid court culture, or as a narrative device in alternate-history scenarios. However, there is little to no direct historical evidence for a formal Nizari-Nasrid political union, alliance, or joint state.
