Nitroprodukt

Nitroprodukt is a term used in chemistry, especially in German-language literature, to denote a nitro product, i.e., an organic compound containing a nitro group (-NO2). It covers a wide range of structures, such as nitroarenes, nitroalkanes, and other nitro-substituted molecules, typically formed by nitration or related transformations.

Basic concept: the nitro group is strongly electron-withdrawing and confers characteristic reactivity. Nitro compounds serve as intermediates in the synthesis of dyes, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and energetic materials.
