Nitrogénhatékonyság, or nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), refers to the amount of crop yield produced per unit of nitrogen applied. It is a crucial concept in sustainable agriculture and environmental management. High NUE means that a larger proportion of the nitrogen absorbed by the plant is converted into harvestable product, such as grain, biomass, or fruit. Conversely, low NUE indicates that a significant portion of the applied nitrogen is lost to the environment through processes like leaching, denitrification, or volatilization.

Several factors influence NUE. These include the plant's genetic potential, soil properties, climate conditions, and agricultural management practices.
