Neutralstellung

Neutralstellung, or neutral position, denotes a state of rest or a reference configuration in which there is no net force, moment, or active command causing movement. Its precise meaning depends on the field: in biology and engineering it can describe a resting alignment of body parts or a non-engaged state of a device or drivetrain.

In physiology and medicine, neutralstellung refers to the anatomical neutral position of joints and body segments. It serves as a baseline for measurements, imaging, and rehabilitation.
