Nenänendoskooppia, commonly referred to as nasal endoscopy, is a medical procedure used to examine the nasal cavity and the sinuses. It involves inserting a thin, flexible tube with a light and a camera, known as an endoscope, into the nostril. The camera transmits images to a screen, allowing the doctor to visualize the internal structures of the nose and sinuses in detail.

This diagnostic tool is primarily employed by ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists. It helps in identifying and diagnosing a variety of conditions such as chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, deviated septums, nasal tumors, and bleeding sources. The procedure can also be used to assess the effectiveness of treatments for nasal and sinus disorders.

Nasal endoscopy is generally performed in an outpatient setting and typically requires no significant preparation. Local anesthetic spray is often used to numb the nasal passages, and sometimes a mild sedative may be administered to help the patient relax. The procedure itself is usually quick, lasting only a few minutes. While some mild discomfort or a sensation of pressure may be experienced, it is generally well-tolerated.
