Nebuliseerimine

Nebuliseerimine is the Estonian term for nebulization, a medical technique that transforms liquid medication into an aerosol mist for inhalation. The process requires a nebulizer device, a compressor or ultrasonic transducer, and a mouthpiece or mask through which the patient breathes. The liquid solution passes through the nebulizer chamber where it is broken into fine droplets, typically in the 1 to 5 micron size range. These droplets can reach the lower respiratory tract, delivering medication directly to the site of action.

Clinical applications of nebuliseerimine include treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, and other obstructive airway diseases. It is also used for delivering bronchodilators, corticosteroids, and anticholinergic agents. Nebulizers enable precise dosing, minimal systemic absorption, and are especially useful for patients who cannot use inhalers effectively, such as young children or people with severe breathing difficulties.

Safety and effectiveness factors include proper maintenance of the nebulizer to avoid bacterial contamination, accurate dosing according to the prescribed medication, and proper positioning of the patient to optimize inhalation. Common side effects are mild and may involve cough, throat irritation, or transient dizziness. Contraindications include severe hypotension, known hypersensitivity to the medication, and certain cardiac conditions.

It offers a noninvasive means of delivering potent bronchodilators and anti-inflammatory agents directly into the lungs, thus improving symptom control and quality of life for many patients with chronic respiratory illnesses.
