Natrien

Natrien is a Swedish metal band originating from Stockholm, formed in 2003. The group blends elements of death metal, doom, and atmospheric black metal, creating a sound described as melodic and brooding. The founding lineup consisted of vocalist and guitarist Marcus Andersson, guitarist Jörgen Lindström, bassist Henrik Svensson, and drummer Lars Nilsson. Over the course of the band’s career, lineup changes occurred with the addition of guitarist and keyboardist Oliver Björk in 2005 and the replacement of the original bassist in 2007 by Måns Eriksson.

Natrien released their debut demo, “Bones of Mourn,” in 2004, which gained underground acclaim and led to a contract with the independent label Morbid Persistence Records. Their first full-length album, “Ashen Depths,” came out in 2006 and was praised for its intricate guitar work and atmospheric layering. The follow-up album, “Eclipse of Dawn,” released in 2009, showcased a more progressive approach, incorporating keyboard textures and extended instrumental passages. Natrien toured extensively across Scandinavia, supporting acts such as Reverend Balthazar and Death's Reach, and played at festivals including Nordic Metal Fest and the Stockholm Metal Day.

The band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2011, citing personal commitments and creative differences. While Natrien ceased recording, members have continued in other musical projects. The band’s legacy remains within the Swedish underground metal community, noted for its blending of melodic intensity and atmospheric depth.
