Nastola

Nastola is a municipality located in the Päijänne Tavastia region of Finland. It was established in 1860 and has a total area of 621.74 square kilometers, of which 108.55 square kilometers is water. As of 2022, Nastola had a population of 14,528 inhabitants.

The municipality is situated north of the city of Lahti and is known for its natural landscapes, including numerous lakes and forests. Nastola's economy has historically been linked to industry and agriculture. The region has seen changes in its industrial base over the years, with a shift towards service-based sectors in recent times.

Nastola is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. The municipality's infrastructure includes schools, libraries, and recreational facilities. In 2016, Nastola merged with the city of Lahti. Despite the administrative merger, the area retains its distinct identity and continues to be referred to as Nastola. The former municipality's administrative functions are now integrated into the city of Lahti's governance. This integration aimed to streamline services and enhance regional development.
