Nassfeld

Nassfeld is a mountain resort situated in the western part of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, near the borders with Liechtenstein and Switzerland. The area lies within the County of Feldkirch and is part of the Silvretta Alps. With an altitude ranging from approximately 1,000 to 2,500 metres above sea level, Nassfeld serves as a popular destination for both winter sports and summer outdoor activities.

The ski region was established in the 1960s and has since developed into one of the largest alpine tourist areas in the western Alps. It boasts 70 kilometres of groomed pistes, including a mix of gentle slopes for beginners and challenging runs for advanced skiers. The resort is linked to the nearby town of Ischgl through a network of chairlifts, gondolas, and cable cars, allowing visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Nassfeld also offers a snow park, ski schools, and facilities for cross‑country skiing.

During the summer months, Nassfeld transforms into a hub for hiking, mountain biking, and paragliding. Well-maintained trails wind through meadows, pine forests, and alpine pastures, providing scenic routes for all skill levels. The area hosts various events, such as mountain running races and cultural festivals that attract both locals and international visitors.

Accessibility to Nassfeld is facilitated by the nearby Hochligen railway station on the Bregenz–Bilten line and by road connections to Feldkirch and Bregenz. Public transport links and a network of winter roads enable convenient access to the resort for day trips or extended stays. Despite its popularity, the region maintains a strong emphasis on sustainable tourism, with initiatives aimed at preserving the local environment and promoting responsible recreation.
