The term originates from the Hungarian phrase "napra kerül," which translates to "to fall by the wayside" or "to be left to one's own devices." Naprakész work typically involves tasks that are not regulated by formal labor laws, such as freelancing, gig economy jobs, or informal side gigs.

This type of work is prevalent in many sectors, including digital services, manual labor, and creative fields.
