Nanorudak

Surface modification with organic ligands, polymer shells, or silica coatings is typical to improve dispersion, stability, and biocompatibility, and to enable conjugation with targeting molecules or drugs.

Because of their anisotropic shape, nanorudaks can exhibit direction-dependent optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. Metallic nanorudaks may support longitudinal plasmon resonances that shift with aspect ratio, which can be exploited in sensing or photothermal therapy. Oxide or semiconductor nanorudaks can act as catalysts, photocatalysts, or components in electronic or energy storage devices. Potential applications span bioimaging, targeted drug delivery, environmental sensing, and nanoscale electronics, though research is largely exploratory given the terminology's varying usage.
